The Jaisalmer Army School was est. on 05 Apr 2010 with only four students. Since the school building had not been completed, it was housed in the HRDC building of HQ 140 Armd Bde, with staff comprised of one Principal & only four teachers. The school was allotted a grant of Rs 10.5 lakhs as school fund from Southern Comd to start with. The school shifted to the present building on 05 Jul 2010. Thereafter, for renovation of Auditorium, the school recd an amount of 11,88,000/-(Rupees Eleven lakh eighty eight thousand only) from HQ Southern Comd. Jaisalmer Army School was upgraded to Army Public School (APS), Jaisalmer wef 01 Apr 2013 vide HQ AWES letter No B/45701/SC/APS-30/AWES dt 08 Jan 2013.
The management took a case for CBSE affiliation up to Secondary level in June 2014 and successfully got the affiliation w.e.f academic session Apr 2015-16 vide CBSE letter received by the school dt.15/07/2015.The CBSE Regn No. is CBSE/Affl/1780024/2015/8508-11. Over a period of time, the school has shown tremendous progress and at present the school is having the strength of 609 children and the staff of one Principal, thirty one teachers, one accountant, one clerk and twelve class IV employees.

APS physics laboratory is well equipped laboratory where students learn to practice the activities of scientists – asking questions, performing procedures, collecting data, analyzing data, answering questions, and thinking of new questions to explore. We have Vernier Calliper, Lens Mirror Prism, Resistance Box, Stop Clock, Magnets, Bell apparatus and many more other equipments. For Math lab we have model of Rectangle and Triangle as well as chart of Math rules. At a time a group of 25 students can perform experiment in the Lab with all safety measure (Fire sensor, fire Extinguishers) and first Aid Box are placed in the Lab.
