Bhavan’s Gandhi Vidyashram

About Bhavan’s Gandhi Vidyashram

We are Bhavan’s Gandhi Vidyashram in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, a coeducational residential school associated with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Established in 1983, our institution follows the CBSE curriculum and provides education through the senior-secondary stage. Our campus on Golf Club Road brings academic learning and residential life together in the hill-town setting of Kodaikanal.

The educational tradition of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan places cultural understanding and values alongside the acquisition of knowledge. At our school, that tradition forms part of everyday learning and participation. Children develop through subject study, shared routines and the responsibilities that come with living in a school community. The residential setting makes cooperation, consideration and personal discipline relevant beyond the classroom timetable.

Our senior-secondary provision includes Science and Commerce. These pathways allow students to pursue more specialised academic interests as they prepare for the next stage of education. Across the school, classroom study is accompanied by opportunities to take part in collective activities, explore personal interests and develop confidence in expressing ideas. Academic progress remains connected with the broader habits of sustained effort and constructive participation.

Sport, cultural programmes and school celebrations contribute to community life. Our annual sports and cultural events give pupils opportunities to prepare, perform and work together. Student leadership provides another setting in which responsibility can be practised. Yoga and activities connected with the care of the campus also form part of the wider experience, helping children connect personal wellbeing with consideration for their surroundings.

Our Kodaikanal location and residential character distinguish the institution from an urban day school. Pupils share an environment in which education extends into the routines and relationships of daily life. Through the combination of CBSE study, the Bhavan’s educational tradition and participation in a residential community, we seek to support young people’s intellectual, social and personal development as connected parts of their school years.
