We are the BRIC-National Centre for Cell Science in Pune, an autonomous research organization associated with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Located on the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus at Ganeshkhind, our work combines research in cell science with teaching, training and support for biological research. The centre is also associated with the maintenance and distribution of cell lines and hybridomas, an important resource function for laboratories that require characterized biological materials.
Our project research brings together experimental cell biology, molecular methods, microbiology, immunology and the analysis of biological information. Current recruitment spans several distinct investigator-led programmes. A bioengineering initiative involves microbial culture, molecular assays and the management of genomic information. Another programme examines the role of super-enhancer-associated long non-coding RNA in glioblastoma, connecting molecular regulation with the study of a brain tumour. A further project studies how infection influences haematopoietic stem-cell fate, function and memory.
Our allergy-related work includes a project on the evolution of IgE-producing B cells. Together, these programmes illustrate the different biological questions represented in the centre's project vacancies. The laboratory skills requested vary between projects and include cell culture, transfection, gene knockdown, PCR, protein analysis, flow cytometry, confocal imaging and work with experimental models. Some positions also value bioinformatics or multi-omics experience.
Project appointments are administered separately from permanent institutional posts. Each advertised position has its own eligibility, fellowship, age limit, principal investigator and project end date. The current online selection process uses a separate application form for each position, followed by shortlisting and an online interview. Our careers information helps research applicants identify the programme that matches their education and laboratory experience, while keeping the individual appointment conditions clear.
