College of Food Technology, CAU Lamphelpat – Company Overview

The College of Food Technology (CoFT), located in Lamphelpat, Imphal, Manipur, operates under the esteemed Central Agricultural University (CAU). Established with a vision to enhance food security and promote sustainable food systems in Northeast India, the college plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of food science and technology education in the region.

CAU was created under an Act of Parliament in 1992 and serves seven northeastern states, including Manipur. The College of Food Technology was later founded to support the university’s mission by offering specialized academic and research programs in food processing, preservation, safety, nutrition, and value addition. The institution has rapidly evolved into a center of excellence for food technology education, training, and innovation.

The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, focusing on core and advanced areas such as food engineering, food microbiology, food quality assurance, food safety regulations, and food product development. Its curriculum is carefully designed to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring graduates are job-ready and globally competitive.

The CoFT is equipped with modern laboratories, pilot plants, and research infrastructure that allow students and researchers to work on cutting-edge technologies and real-world food industry challenges.
