About Children’s Foundation School

We are Children’s Foundation School at Gopalpur on Budge Budge Trunk Road, Kolkata. Established in 1982 by Shourabh Mukerji with the blessings of Mother Teresa, our school is affiliated to CISCE. Our first ICSE cohort appeared in 2020 and our first ISC cohort in 2022. We provide an English-medium educational setting in which academic learning is connected with values, creativity and the development of individual interests.

In the pre-primary years, storytelling, action songs and activity-based learning introduce language, numeracy and growing self-reliance. Primary and middle-school education considers social, cognitive, linguistic and physical development together. Bengali and Hindi are offered within our language programme, with a third language compulsory in Classes V–VIII. Value Education, Socially Useful Productive Work and computing also form part of the curriculum, extending the school experience beyond the core academic subjects.

Assessment develops with the age of the child. Pre-primary pupils do not undertake formal tests, while primary classes use continuing assessment through unit tests. From Class IV onwards, unit tests are accompanied by terminal examinations. Senior pupils engage in projects intended to build analytical skills alongside preparation for board examinations. Our educational purpose is to help children understand and use information, rather than simply accumulate disconnected facts.

The campus includes Science laboratories, a library and a dedicated pre-primary play area. Chess, carrom, dance and music provide variety within school life. An infirmary with a trained nurse supports first aid and pupil wellbeing, and transport operates on selected routes. A school application assists communication and fee-related processes, while campus CCTV forms part of the security arrangements. These practical resources support the relationships and activities through which education takes place. We aim to give each child opportunities to recognise a talent, develop an interest and build confidence. Our Gopalpur community brings together academic preparation, age-appropriate activity and a supportive environment in which children can grow as learners and individuals.
