CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya

We are Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, an agricultural university at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. The university was established on 1 November 1978, with the College of Agriculture, founded in 1966, forming its academic nucleus. The university adopted its present name in June 2001. Our mandate combines education in agriculture and allied disciplines, research that advances agricultural knowledge, and extension activities directed particularly towards rural communities in Himachal Pradesh.

This combination of teaching, research and extension connects the university's academic work with the practical circumstances of farming. The College of Agriculture includes the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, which provides the setting for a current project on the use and conservation of agrobiodiversity. The project examines links between agricultural sustainability, smallholder wellbeing and resilience to climate change in India. These linked themes bring biological diversity into the discussion of farming systems and the needs of smallholder communities.

The research fellowship associated with this project calls for postgraduate study in life sciences and a qualifying national eligibility test. Additional qualifications and relevant research experience receive preference. The appointment is temporary, with a project period extending to December 2028 subject to the availability of funds. Recruitment is handled through the Head of the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology at the College of Agriculture.
