About Daly College
We are Daly College, a coeducational day and residential school in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Our institution combines a heritage campus with contemporary school education through CBSE and Cambridge pathways. The name College reflects our history; our core educational role is that of a school. We belong to the Indian Public Schools’ Conference tradition and became a member of Round Square in 2005, connecting our local community with wider educational networks.
Our present campus developed after the Holkars donated land east of the earlier school site. Construction began in 1906, and the main building was inaugurated in November 1912. Designed in the Indo-Saracenic style by Sir Swinton Jacob, it uses marble from Udaipur. The campus also includes a temple and mosque dating from 1910. These buildings give the school a distinctive architectural and cultural setting, linking daily life with a long institutional history.
Our educational direction changed significantly in 1940, when the school opened more broadly on merit rather than remaining restricted to the families for whom it had originally been established. We now aim to combine the strengths of tradition with innovation and independent thinking. Our motto, Gyanmev Shakti, expresses the importance of knowledge, while our vision also places emphasis on communication, confidence and social and environmental awareness.
Our historic campus includes spaces associated with different faith traditions, reflecting an institutional setting in which varied backgrounds share a community. Round Square participation adds a further international dimension to this long-standing educational identity.
Day scholars and boarders share an educational environment that includes academic resources, sport and wider activities. The Resource Centre supports our own community and educational interaction beyond the campus. Residential life gives students opportunities to develop routines, responsibility and relationships with others. We see academic study and the wider experience of school as connected. At Daly College, the heritage setting, contemporary curriculum, residential community and international outlook together shape an education intended to develop capable, thoughtful and confident young people.
