National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is an Institute of National Importance and a prominent institution for technological education, research, innovation, and professional development in India. Located in Srinivasnagar, Surathkal, Mangalore, Karnataka, the institute was established in 1960 as Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) and was upgraded to National Institute of Technology Karnataka in 2002. It subsequently became an Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.
