About PM Shri KV No.5 Bathinda Cantt, Chandigarh
Kendriya Vidyalaya No.5 Bathinda Cantt came into existence in November 1987 to provide opportunities through quality education. A co-educational school with unity in diversity is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Students take the AISSE (Class X) and AISSCE (Class XII) examinations in the month of March every year.
An attractive and aesthetic three-storey building provides all the basic facilities. A healthy child-centred education and activity-oriented approach in the teaching-learning process facilitates the overall development of children.
Gradual year wise expansion in the classes leading to the present status
a full fledged KV 5 Bathinda Cantt with classes upto Class XII also came into existence from the academic session 2008-09 to cater to the needs of the students, with separate staff and timings of the schools, functioning in the same campus.

Mission and main objectives
Mission and main objectives of KVS
- To meet the educational needs of the children of transferable Central Government employees including Defence and Para-Military personnel by providing a common programme of education.
- To achieve excellence and set the pace in the field of school education.
- To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) etc.
- To develop the spirit of national integration and create a feeling of “Indianness” among children.
- To provide, establish, support, maintain, control and manage schools, hereinafter referred to as 'Kendriya Vidyalayas', for the children of transferable employees of the Government of India, temporary population and others including those residing in remote and underdeveloped places in the country and to do all acts and things necessary to promote such schools.
