About Us

The Patron Saint of the school is St. Katherine of Siena. Her feast day is on the 29th of April. This is celebrated as St. Karen’s Day.

The school has derived its name from the novel KAREN written by Marie Lyons Killilea. ‘KAREN’ is the inspiring true story of a little girl who triumphed over disaster and her delightful family who made her triumph possible. Imbued with the same spirit of sacrifice, love, devotion and care for children, St. Karen’s was established.

St. Karen’s High School is a minority Anglo-Indian Christian institution, by reason of both religion and language. The School has been established by The Anglo–Indian Educational Society of St. Karen’s, which is a registered body. This Society was established solely for the educational and cultural development primarily of Anglo–Indian Christian Children seeking the same and admitting inter alia such other children irrespective of caste, creed, location, language, sex or religion as are desirous of receiving education at St. Karen’s High School.

The school is running under the aegis of the Anglo-Indian Educational Society of St. Karen’s. The Governing Body constitutes the executive committee made up of prominent members of the Anglo-Indian community.

The society has also established St. Karen’s Secondary School, a senior secondary school in Khagaul, Patna in the year 1990 and St. Karen’s Collegiate School, Patna in the year 2018. Visit the website www.stkarenssecondaryschool.com and www.stkarenscollegiateschool.com

In accordance with the objectives of the society, the management is proud to announce the expansion of its educational pursuits outside Bihar with a fully fledged educational complex including a senior secondary school in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Today St. Karen’s is a name synonymous with education.

From its humble beginnings in rented premises almost 50 years ago in 1965 St. Karen’s has grown to become one of the most reputed and respected institutions in Patna and Bihar.

The extraordinary pioneering spirit and distinctive charisma of its founder Mr. D. P. Galstaun and his wife Mrs. L. B. Galstaun, were underpinned by their fundamental principles of an unfailing faith in God, truth, justice and upholding the dignity of the child; core values which guide and shape their vision and educational philosophy.

At the root of it all, the founders have maintained their abiding aim – to educate, empower and motivate all the students to grow into confident, conscientious and compassionate human beings. Their exemplary perseverance, hard work and belief in themselves led to the derivation of the School’s Motto “Labour Reaps Reward.”

The school’s motto continues to be the guiding principle that defines every Karenite.
