In 1980, a great visionary embarked on a path which he believed would shape the dreams of many generations to come. Inspired by his own parents, who themselves were founders of multiple schools and by his own experience studying at The Bishop’s School, Pune, our Founder Chairman, Shri. Mohan George Sir, founded “THE BISHOP'S SCHOOL” Bhayandar, managed and run by ‘The Bhayandar Education Trust’ and open to all communities irrespective of caste, creed or religion with a commitment to respect and adherence to all the norms of the school for its orderly governance.
Being born into an educationist household, Shri. Mohan George’s training as an educator began at a very early age. His parents, Shri. Dr. George P Oomen and Smt. Gracey George were both school founders and thus, Shri. Mohan George was able to grasp the nuances of running an educational institute from very early on.
The beginnings of The Bishop’s School were extremely humble to begin with; a 10 x 10 feet room in a residential building in the heart of Bhayandar with 5 students of Nursery. Each year a few more students would be added as each class progressed to the next year. In 1994, the first batch of around 27 students appeared for the S.S.C. Board Examinations achieving a 100% result; a feat that would become a trend which remains unbroken up to this very day.
Over the years, The Bishop’s School would develop a strong reputation among the local community, known for its discipline, efficiency, and academic excellence. This reputation was only possible because of the vision, dedication and efforts of Shri. Mohan George who nurtured every aspect of the schools’ culture from its infancy. Known to be a strict disciplinarian, Shri. Mohan George was able to inculcate a sense of singular purpose and efficiency throughout the staff and, despite many limitations of resources, established The Bishop’s School as the number one school in Bhayander West, irrespective of board.
A key bedrock of Shri. Mohan George’s management legacy was his prioritization of teachers’ efficiency and job satisfaction. Shri. Mohan George created an environment where teachers were able to exhibit their talents and work without stress so that they could concentrate on their own demanding job of teaching and nurturing future Bishopites. This is evidenced by the fact that a number of teachers have spent multiple decades as part of The Bishop’s family. Today, The Bishop’s School is well known as a dependable pillar of the Bhayandar community. While many people have contributed to this achievement, we all owe a debt to our beloved founder, Shri. Mohan George who taught us The Bishop’s Way!
