We are The Sunrise Junior School on Canal Road, Inder Baba Marg, in Dehradun. Our focus is early childhood education, with an environment designed around the ways young children explore, communicate and develop confidence. We use a blended global early-years curriculum that combines guided play with meaningful everyday experiences. Children are encouraged to learn at their own pace while becoming comfortable with the relationships, routines and shared activities of school.
Curiosity is central to our approach. Young learners make sense of the world through movement, conversation, observation and hands-on exploration. We give these experiences a purposeful place in the day, so that discovery can become the starting point for language, early understanding and creative expression. Our intention is to help children enjoy learning from the beginning and to establish foundations that support their later education.
Our programme spans Playgroup for ages two to three, Nursery for three to four, Lower KG for four to five and Upper KG for five to six. Reggio Emilia and Waldorf ideas influence the environment and the use of play. Sensory materials introduce size, shape, weight and number; magnets, magnifying glasses and water play encourage scientific questions. Practical-life activities such as pouring, sorting and buttoning develop coordination and independence. Paint, clay, stories, music and movement give children multiple ways to communicate. The campus includes indoor and outdoor play zones, nature-based activity areas and supervised water play. Parent workshops, shared meals, mindfulness and inviting reading spaces support the wider experience of early childhood.
Communication, creativity and emotional development are connected priorities. We recognise that a child’s growing ability to express a need or share an idea is as significant as learning a new concept. A nurturing setting allows children to explore while feeling supported. Our Dehradun school brings this early-years focus together with activity and day-care provision, maintaining attention to the developmental needs of young children and the families we serve.
