IBDP Spanish Teacher
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced IBDP Spanish Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), fostering a deep understanding of the language and culture while preparing students for IB assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the IBDP Language B or Ab Initio curriculum.
- Develop students’ language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
- Foster an appreciation of Hispanic cultures through literature, media, and authentic resources.
- Prepare students for internal and external IB assessments, including Individual Oral Assessments and Written Assignments.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying language proficiency levels.
- Integrate IB Learner Profile attributes into classroom teaching.
- Assess, record, and report on student progress according to IB and school guidelines.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students, including after-school or extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve curriculum content and instructional strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IB curriculum changes and best teaching practices.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and IB training sessions as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
- Previous experience teaching IBDP Spanish B or Ab Initio is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IB philosophy, assessment criteria, and curriculum requirements.
- Proficiency in technology-enhanced learning and the use of digital tools in language instruction.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and diverse school environment.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Experience teaching other IB levels (MYP Spanish) or additional languages is a plus.
