Job Description – Project Associate-I (NIT Meghalaya, Sohra Campus)
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya, Department of Chemical & Biological Sciences, invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Project Associate-I. This is a temporary, full-time project-based role located at the picturesque Sohra (Cherrapunji) campus, Meghalaya, PIN – 793108. Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be expected to work on research activities under the supervision of faculty members in the Department of Chemical & Biological Sciences. Core responsibilities will include:
Conducting experimental research in Chemistry and related interdisciplinary fields.
Supporting the project’s day-to-day lab activities, analysis, and documentation.
Preparing technical reports and assisting in drafting publications.
Collaborating with other researchers and project staff as required.
Performing tasks related to project administration, data collection, and interpretation.
Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold an M.Sc. degree in Chemistry or an equivalent field with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
Preferred Qualification: Candidates who have qualified NET/GATE will be given preference.
Experience: Relevant research experience is preferred, though motivated fresh postgraduates with strong academic records may also apply.
Skills Required:
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in Chemistry and allied sciences.
Research aptitude, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
Proficiency in maintaining laboratory records and data interpretation.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Compensation & Tenure:
The position offers a consolidated fellowship of ₹30,000 – ₹37,000 per month depending on qualifications and experience. The role is purely temporary and project-based. The tenure will be governed by project requirements and institutional norms.

The position is full-time and requires residence in Sohra.
